چکیده

For the static contact problem with limited interpenetration with the obstacle the existence of solutions is proved. The frictionless case is studied at first, then the problem with Coulomb friction is investigated as well. The body has nowhere a Dirichlet boundary value condition prescribed. In both cases, if the prescribed bound of the interpenetratiom tends to 0, the solutions tend to a solution of the appropriate unilateral contact problem.

Use of Matlab for Domain Decomposition Method for Contact Problem in Elasticity

In the present paper we will deal with numerical solution of a generalized semicoercive contact problem in linear elasticity, for the case that several bodies of arbitrary shapes are in mutual contacts and are loaded by external forces, by using the non-overlapping domain decomposition and finite elements method. The numerical example will be presented.

Compression of high grafting density opposing polymer brushes using molecular dynamics simulations in explicit solvent.

Opposing polymer brush layers at high grafting density were examined under confinement and characterized with respect to structure and interaction forces using molecular dynamics simulations in an explicit solvent. The brush system underwent a static compression, where the system is simulated at several discrete separation distances. These simulations are all at the same solvent chemical potent...

Contrasting static-to-kinetic friction transitions on layers of an autophobically dewetted polymer film using Fourier-analyzed shear modulation force microscopy

Fourier analysis of oscillating forces at a laterally modulated tip provides new insight into static-to-kinetic friction transitions on ultrathin polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) films. In addition to contrast in sliding friction, layers of autophobically dewetted PVA films exhibit remarkable contrast in the transition from static to kinetic friction as derived from spatially resolved Fourier analysis. ...

Contact compliance effects in the frictional response of bioinspired fibrillar adhesives.

The shear failure and friction mechanisms of bioinspired adhesives consisting of elastomer arrays of microfibres terminated by mushroom-shaped tips are investigated in contact with a rigid lens. In order to reveal the interplay between the vertical and lateral loading directions, experiments are carried out using a custom friction set-up in which normal stiffness can be made either high or low ...
